Hello, I installed the 1.6 firmware update on my R7 yesterday. The install completed and I clicked on the "OK" message. After that the camera shut off. I have not been able to turn it back on.
I have tried removing the lens, memory cards. I have tried turning it off and holding the shutter button. Nothing has helped. Has anyone else seen this before?
Thanks

Did you update the firmare or will you leave as it? How long have you been using it?

Rather than pay to have my R 7 repaired (mine was updated to 1.6.0 on 10/17/2024 and hasn't worked since) I bought a new one, but it came with firmware version 1.3.2. Do you recommend updating it with the 1.6.0 version? or should I use an older version like 1.5.0?

You do not have to pay. Please call support.

The latest R7 firmware when installing with a Mac is osMAC Sequoia v15, but my Mac has Sequoia v18. I can't get that one to install. When is Canon going to offer firmware for the current OS?

Greetings,
You are posting to another user's forum topic. Its helpful for those of us trying to assist that you start your own thread.
This ensures the details unique and specific to your issue are understood.
Your post should include a meaningful title, the model of your Canon product and any information or details specific to your environment. Operating system (version and build) troubleshooting steps you might have performed and any errors you observed.
Firmware is operating system agnostic. It is read and used by your camera, not by the operating system you are running. Windows, MAC, it doesn't matter. The .FIR file is the same regardless of the OS you select and download from.
MAC OS Sequoia is version 15.x (there is no version 18 of Sequoia)
iOS is version 18.x
Again, however, the current FW available for the R7 is v1.6.0 (as of today). It does not matter what OS you select or download from as you will get v1.6.0 regardless of what you select.

Ventura
Mojave

A piece of advice before you install new FW. Make sure you know what the FW does and what it as in it. If it is something you don't use or need, updating will not make any difference to your or your camera. Sometimes it only adds a language or support for a lens you don't have and don't intend to buy, etc.
