Canon EOS 1300D: Error 01 when trying to take a picture; live view seems to work fine

Hello,

I am trying to figure out why my camera, the Canon EOS 1300D (Rebel T6), is posting Err 01 when I try to take a picture. The pictures seem to look fine when I'm using the live view function. I can zoom in and zoom out, and use the focus ring just as normal. 

I have tried both lenses I have (Canon Zoom Lens EF-S 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS II; Canon Zoom Lens EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III). The first lens (18-55mm) shows Err 01, while the other (75-300mm) just does nothing when I click the shutter button. However, a red light flashes once when I attach the second lens to the camera. 

I have tried using lens cleaner, a dry microfiber cloth, a damp microfiber cloth, and a cotton swab multiple times on both of the lenses' and the camera's gold contact points. I have also looked at them all closely, and they don't appear to be broken. 

I just updated my camera's firmware to version 1.2.0 today. I probably can't update the lens firmware due to the error. I have tried using "dust delete data" in settings, but the same Err 01 continues to pop up. 

Is my camera just broken? Please help. I have also tried to troubleshoot and watch many videos on fixing this.

Older EF & EF-S lenses such as the ones you own the firmware cannot be updated. What mode are you trying to shoot in. Have you tried those lenses on another Canon DSLR camera to see if they work. I highly doubt 2 lenses are broken at the same time. Though it could be possible but that's very rare.
