Help, EOS R with Samyang 14mm f2.8 shutter won't fire

Hi,

I'm feeling really stupid, and don't seem to be able to get my nice new EOS R to work with my samyang 14mm

I've got the camera set to manual focus, but can't get the shutter to work

Sorry, I'm a video shooter, do I have to go into my custom settings and change a specific thing?

Sorry, for the delay.  Yes, you do.  Or, you could simply not use C3 mode.  Or, you could make the change, and then re-save the settings to C3, which is what I think is the best course of action.

I am saying make the change to "Release Shutter Without A Lens" setting, and then re-save to C3.

Your camera needs to be in either AV or M mode to use this lens.

I've tried it in manual, I'll give it a go in av

Have a go at it in the camera menus, as suggested above.  You just simply need to enable the camera to shoot without a lens.

It's a Canon camera, probably best to use Canon lenses. Remember not being a Canon lens the camera doesn't know it is there.

Switch “Release Shutter Without Lens” to ON works. Thanks!

It only works one time and I have to set it again to shoot without the lens again??? What am I missing????

Thanks,

What shooting mode are you using?  Custom shooting modes can be enabled to reset any settings changes you may make.

I am in the C3 Mode

Just as I suspected.  You are shooting in a custom shooting mode.  That's the problem, then.  Check the settings for your custom modes.  The settings are being reset back to the C3 defaults as soon as the [meterIing] timer expires.
