What lens do you have? If you have a second lens, does that also produce blurry images?

Blurry images though can be the result of several different things.  To help rule out an issue with the camera and/or lens, set the camera to Auto mode.  Then, on a sunny day, go outside and capture something with lots of detail.  Or even indoors near a window that is letting lots of light in.

To clarify: 1. you adjusted diopter so image in viewfinder is sharp. 2. the image is not sharp.

1. is lens on AF setting? 2. does the green focus confirmation dot light up?

Can you post an image with the condition using Dropbox or One Drive?

Thank you for the replys, I need to test a few things.

And to clarify, the target recticule is sharp and in focus after adjusting the diopter, while the background to the viewfinder (ie, the thing im currently pointing the camera to) is still a blurr.

I bought this off WEX photo and video and it had a recon rating of 8 or 9.

For the future, do only purchase gear from authorized Canon resellers.  Wex isn't on that list.   To see the most currently list, visit Canon's Where to Buy page and download the PDF under the Canon Authorized Dealer section.

300D is very old. Original consumer camera. Digital Rebel in US market.

Wex is UK based. Stated as an authorized seller.

Hi.

Still unclear to me exactly what is happening.

Is the camera indicating proper focus via the green dot (shutter fires but the actual photo is not in focus) or is the camera not focusing at all. (no green dot and the shutter won't fire).

This is what im seeing after properly cleaning the available surfaces. The targeting recticule is completely in focus, but image in viewfinder and pictures are blurred like this. Should I return this? or are there fixes I can try.
Thank you all.

This is what your viewfinder should look like:

I suggest you go back to where you purchased it and go over camera with them.
