Having issues putting on/taking off my Canon 600 EX-RT II Speedlight on my R6 Mark II?

Hey Guys!

So I have a Canon 600 EX-RT II speed light that I've used with my 5D Mark III, and still want to use with my R6 II. The only issue for me is that, for some reason, putting it on the R6II hot shoe and taking it off is quite hard for some reason, like it's really tight. Trying to push the lock lever to lock it on takes a bit more force than it ever did with my 5D, and taking it off requires a little force as well. It's like the speed light is too big for the hotshoe, and it left a few scuffs on the top metal plate. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? The speed light still works fine, but I'm worried that I'll somehow damage either the flash or hotshoe. Maybe it's because the camera is new and it needs to looses up with repeated use? And would you guys worry about the scuffs on the metal, or would that not bother you guys? Using weather sealed speedlites on cameras with the multi function hot shoe. Requires the AD-E1 hot shoe adapter. If you're not using it with the adapter there's the problem.

Thank you so much for the reply! I just saw in the manual that may flash wasn't supported properly for it. I never would have guessed and it didn't come as a thought that it wouldn't fit properly! In your opinion, do you think I may have possibly damaged the top of the hots shoe on camera by putting that flash on there, or am I just being overly paranoid haha? Really want to treat this camera well, and I really hope I didn't screw anything up because I had no idea about the different hot shoe?

I'm not sure what the problem could be with yours, but my Canon 600EXII-RT fits smoothly onto my R6 mark II, just like it does on my DSLR's and my R5. The lock ring is smooth and easy to turn as well. I wish I could be of more help, all I can do is say it installs smoothly on mine.

Two options.

1. Use the Canon AD-E1 hot shoe adapter

2. Remove the rubber seal from the bottom of the Speedlite - it just pulls off. You will lose weather sealing.
