Eos R Won't take picture

I got this weird problem today middle of photoshoot. Everything else works fine, focusing, taking pictures with tapping backscreen etc, but my camera won't take picture when i am pressing shutter button. It will focus with it but won't take picture. I tried pressing it harder, i tried to look is there any dust or something between, checked settings. I just can't figure this out.

JaneG,

Have you made sure that you have a card in the slot?

There's one option in your Shooting Menu that won't let you release the shutter if there is no card in the card slot.

I did have a card. I continued my photoshoot taking photos with touch shutter ( tapping back screen).

Jane,

You may have a malfunctioning shutter button - some kind of failure in the electrical connection or something.

Steve Thomas

Thats what i am afraid of. It works half way, i can focus with it, but thats all.

Greetings,

To be safe, please perform a full reset of your camera settings, both main and custom.  Then retest.

If the behavior persists, I'd set up a repair with Canon. If the shutter button is found to be at fault, the camera will likely get a new top assembly.

Hi!

Thank you! I did full reset now and also updated firmware just to be sure. It didn't help in this situation. I am heartbroken, if this come to conclusiont, that i have to send my camera body to be fixed. Anyone has any clue, how much that can cost?

Greetings,

Set up the repair in My Canon and you'll get an estimate.  Please share it as it will help others.
