Email received about AF alignment process

OldrockyGN

I got an email inviting me to get my camera and lens AF aligned.  But I can not figure out how to find out

two things:  First - how long does my gear have to be away?  Second - how much does it cost?  I will NOT

initiate this process without knowing these answers.  Thanks for helping.  - Jim in the PNW

1. Who did the email come from?

2. You will probably get a quicker and more complete answer contacting the email sender.

OldrockyGN,

I don't know. It sounds pretty fishy to me.

Check out the email address. Is it from Canon.com? My credit card company is always sending me dire warnings, but then I look at the full email address and it it NOT the bank through which the card is issued.

OldrockyGN,

You can do a Reverse email Lookup and see who owns that email.

If it's legitimate, there should be a company listed with an address and a phone number to call.

Greetings @OldrockyGN ,

You can schedule repair, cleaning, color calibration or alignment in your MyCanon account.  The products must be registered.  Once you are logged in, select Support from the Nav Pane menu, then Service and Repair.  Once you select the service, you'll see the pricing.  Time to complete varies depending on the time of year.  We're heading into one of the busiest times for service but if you do it now turn around should be pretty quick.  Probably about a week or a week and a half.  As summer approaches that time will increase.
