Second advice, do not buy that lens. It is totally manual and not anywhere close to what a boy with a T7 should have.
Do not buy that lens.
EOS 1D, EOS 1D MK IIn, EOS 1D MK III, EOS 1Ds MK III, EOS 1D MK IV and EOS 1DX and many lenses.

You are welcome. I think the community really stepped up and is attempting to help you.
Since your son is 11 years old (say a 5th or 6th grader) and we don't know how physically mature he may be, I'll assume he's pretty average (and not 6 feet tall and can bench press 200lbs). The T7, it's standard 18-55mm kit lens and the 55-250 lens I recommended isn't too heavy or cumbersome but it's not feather light either. The IS (image stabilization) feature of both those lenses will come in handy. A big, long heavy lens may not be the best option for him.
Also, I'm sure there are Youtube instructional videos about shooting airshows. Also there are beginner tutorials on using the T7. He should begin watching some of those even before he gets a camera. Then when he gets the camera, watch them again.
Above all, have fun!

As I say, as soon as he gets the camera he needs to go outside and shoot birds, moving cars and airplanes.

Thank you. I have done so much research that my head is officially spinning. So does a camera with a 4-pin hot shoe use just Canon parts and does this seem like a good idea to purchase for an 11-year-old? I am buying things individually for his camera, lenses, bag, etc.

The T7 has a flash, so he probably won't need an external flash for some time. And in that case, a Canon flash is the easiest way to go. Any thing else can be a bit fiddly.

I don't think this one does as it doesn't come with anything other than the camera, battery and charger.

It has what is called a "cobra head flash" it is built into the camera and pops up when necessary.
