Hi, everyone. Excited to join the community!
I am having an issue with my EOS Rebel T4i, which I bought off Facebook marketplace about a year ago. The seller had it for a while but didn't use it often. It was working great for a long time for me, until recently it will not turn on very often. I have tried using a different battery, taking SD cards in and out, and the reset I have seen online of turning the camera off with the battery out and pressing the shutter button for 30 seconds then putting the battery back in. That almost worked as it came on but then I turned it off and it would not come back on again. Ugh.
The red light in the bottom right isn't even flashing anymore. I am very sad. I would love to take it somewhere but I don't know where to go. Any advice? Other tips and tricks? Anything appreciated. Thank you!

Hello cceball,
I am sorry to hear that you are having power issues with your camera. Have you tried using a different genuine Canon battery? Please check for debris inside the battery compartment where the pins are located and check for debris on the metal contacts on the battery pack. You may use a clean, dry microfiber cleaning cloth to wipe the contacts. Try the camera with just a fully charged Canon battery. No lens, memory card, flash, etc. Make sure that the battery and memory card compartment doors are closed securely. Is the unit still not powering up? If not, the camera is malfunctioning, unfortunately.
I've reviewed our service information and Canon no longer provides repairs for the EOS Rebel T4i. This camera is considered 'Out of Service Life' and parts are no longer available. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We do all of our servicing in house, so I do not have any specific facilities that I could direct to, but you can go online and find third-party repair options. Of course, we can't guarantee the quality of their work or what specifically they are capable of servicing.
You do have the Canon Upgrade Program as an option. The Canon Upgrade Program option allows you to replace your current equipment with a new or refurbished Canon unit at a discounted price. If you would like to take part in the Canon Upgrade Program, please call our Sales Department at 1-866-443-8002 from Monday - Friday between 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET and they can help you with availability and pricing.

And if it was serviceable it would likely run well above what a T4i is worth. Before attempting any repair find out want a known good T4i is selling for on the used market. Not much I suspect. It was a short lived model and replaced quickly because of covering issues.
Beyond trying a new Canon brand battery that you are certain it is fully charged, there isn't anything else you can do. The SD card has no impact since the camera will turn on and work even without it. However if you bought a crappy low cost SD off of eBay or Amazon it might be the problem. You might try a top quality SD from a known good source and as I stated neither eBay nor Amazon is a good source.
One other factor, have you installed or attached any off brand gadgets like a flash, battery grip or wi-fi transmitter, etc. Remove them. It is almost a given that off brand gear can and will cause problems even after you remove them the damage may be done. This includes an off brand battery!

Hi cceball!
im having a similar problem and looking for solutions as well. i stumbled upon someone recommending a new SD card for this problem with my T7. i happened to have a spare 32GB sd card on hand that i use for another camera and as soon as i put that one in this body, the camera was turning on much faster, i was able to view my pictures immediately after and all other issues of glitching (the camera turning off or taking super long for the screen to load) went away.

A viable replacement for a T4i for cheap is an R100 and for a tiny bit more and R50. Either with an EF/RF mount converter would easily be a great beginning camera like a T series Rebel. Canon has many body options and a person can determine what they want to spend and find a body that is a great fit.
