EOS Rebel T1i won't turn on, EF 85 f/1.2 L II lets in very little light

Picked up an EF 85mm f/1.2 L II at an estate sale

Along with an 85mm f/1.8 IS USM, an EF-S 18-55 IS USM, and, of all the weird things, an EOS Rebel T1i that doesn't seem to be working. The battery door is gone, but even manually tripping the battery door switch, I can't get it to power up. My dinky Rebel Xs will power up if I press down on that switch with the door open.

Anyway, took some shots with the f/1.2 on my EOS R. Outdoor/sky shots are late night, no moon, very little light from any source.

Not sure what you are expecting. Thread title sounds like you are stating a problem with the 85mm lens, but thread body states that there is very little light in your location.

To echo jrhoffman75, if the shot was done "...late night, no moon, very little light from any source..." then what were you (1) expecting the camera to do or (2) trying to do creatively?

Aside from a broken camera, it sounds like there was an expectation for the lens to work miracles that it could not work.
