EOS R7 - Can't Find Aspect Markers

VideoGuy2025

Hello!

I recently upgraded from my Canon r50 to an r7 for some freelance sports videography. I've been loving the camera but one issue I have is that I'm having a hard time finding the Aspect Marker setting. I used it on my r50 when filming video I knew would be for social media but I can't find it on the r7. My camera is set to movie mode and I'm looking under Shooting Info Display, which is what I had to do to get there on the r50 but that option isn't in there on the r7. Is there another step I am missing?

Thank you in advance for any insight provided!

VideoGuy2025,

This Canon Support Page tells you how to set the Aspect Marker on your R7:

Thanks for the quick response, Steve! Unfortunately, it looks like your link sends me to the support page for the Canon EOS C700 cameras and appears to reference menus that aren't available on my camera. I tried to follow the instructions anyway, but got stuck on step one where it says to open to the "Markers submenu", which to my knowlegde isn't a submenu on the EOS R7.

VideoGuy2025,

You are right, and I am so sorry.. In my haste to be helpful, I made a rookie mistake.

I downloaded it copy of the User Guide. The latest Apple OS update has broken the Search tool in the Books app. Searching for keywords is now a chore.

But, as near as I can tell the R7 always records video using a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The User Guide can be downloaded from the R7 product support page.

I did the same spending nearly an hour going through the manual page by page reviewing all the tabs on the Shooting menu looking for Display which is often the menu option that Markers is a sub menu of.  I could not find it any reference to it.  🤔
