What is the rationale for Canon changing this? I would think they would encourage creativity rather than restrict it. I am glad that my R6mii allows me to finally use my RF24-240 to take multiple exposures, but the fact that I now only have a .jpg to process afterwards almost makes it useless. Is there any hope that Canon will change this or a way to let Canon know that it was a poor move to change it? #R6mii #multipleexposure

Multiple Exposure results should also be saved as RAW files like it has always possible in Eos Cameras up until R5 Mark I
For sure Canon can brig ti back via a firmware update.

I'm also very upset that the manufacturer removed this feature. They could have added a menu option to choose the format in which to save. I like RAW. I would prefer to save in this format. JPEG doesn't have any value for me, so why does the manufacturer choose the format for me? I don't need JPEG at all. I don't like the multi-exposure feature at home on my computer; I like it in the fields, outdoors, and I want to have this feature and the ability to save in RAW right outside. IN A SINGLE FILE, NOT TWO!!!! PLEASE! EMIT A NEW FIRMWARE WHERE THIS ISSUE WILL BE CORRECTED!
PLEASE !!!!!!

Why Canon removed the ability to save in the CR3 format can only be speculated about. Perhaps it had something to do with C2PA Content Credentials that Canon joined in January 2023? See this about what happened to Nikon with multi-exposure and NEF https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/my-z6-iii-c2pa-deep-dive.4814940/#post-68425009
Anyway, some reflections regarding my R6. The multi-exposed CR3 file is already white-balanced, and highlights clip much earlier than the R6 normally does. A better solution, if you want to preserve highlights, is to combine the images later on the computer. Here are nine RAW files that I have combined both afterwards and in-camera (Average mode). Take a look at the standard deviation in the blue and red colour channels relative to the green colour channels. Compare between the images. This is probably a result of the baked-in white balance.
