EOS R8 | 5-7 shot AEB with Remote?

Hey gang, I just took delivery of an R8, upgraded from R10 primarily so that I could capture 5-7 shot AEB brackets for interior real estate photos. It seems that the remote can't be used for multiple exposures, so am I doing something wrong or will I need to hit the button 5-7 times for each bracketed shot? Thanks in advance.

PS, I'm aware of the in-camera HDR capability but want 5-7 separate raw images per shot so that I can capture a wider dynamic range. Thanks!

Turn on the built-in self timer of the camera, I don't see why your remote wouldn't trigger it. You will find this function in the "Drive mode" settings. 2 seconds should do it. This will make the camera take all the shots you have configured in the exposure bracketing menu, 3, 5, or 7.

Hi John, thanks for your reply. I have tried all drive modes with no luck. The only time it will allow me to use the remote is in single shot mode. All others say "remote can't be used for multiple exposures" or similar. After digging through the forums, this seems to be unique to the R8. Maybe I'll try my luck using the shutter option on the phone app.

So, you tried Self timer?

Is the camera drive mode set to continuous?

As John mentioned, if your remote will allow continuous shooting by holding the trigger button, that will work as well. Typically, that is the way I do it without a remote, set my drive mode to H1 and hold the shutter button down until all shots are taken. The camera will stop shooting at the specified number of brackets.

Thanks FloridaDrafter. Can you confirm this is true for the R8 specifically? I currently have the Bluetooth remote but will gladly buy the wired remote if you think it will work. Thanks.

Self timer for the win! Easy peasy, thanks for the advice gang! Believe it or not, the infallible ChatGPT was incorrect in telling me I was out of luck. It said "this is a known issue with the R8, specifically with real estate photographers, and there are no solutions for this problem". HA!

Now I can shoot 5-7 shot brackets in RAW without having to sort out the in-camera HDR jpegs. Massive upgrade for this guy. Thanks all for your help!
