Hi all, I got my EOS R50 last year around this time and didn’t have any issues until I went out to do pictures of a band. I used high continuous shutter bursting on scene intelligent auto because I like my pictures to, I don’t know, not look blurry 😕 anyways, in the middle of the show it all the sudden said an error prevented shooting, turn the camera off and on again or re-install the battery. Did both of those things, and it still wouldn’t work. I did find out, however, that I could still shoot on aperture and shutter priority. After this, it did the same exact thing with those ones so the camera was unusable. I took it back in to the best buy I purchased it from, and the lady said that I had a certain setting or whatever turned on, but didn’t tell me what or how to prevent it from happening again. After she “fixed it” I was able to use it for a little while, then it completely stopped shooting on all presets and modes. Making it useless. I am a broke college student so I didn’t pay the extra for protection, but I want to know if someone has had the same issue and it could be an easy fix, or if I need to send it in for diagnostics.

Greetings jorae0210,
I'm sorry to hear about the issues your EOS R50 camera is experiencing. An Error 30 relates to a shutter malfunction being detected by the camera. You may perform a few basic troubleshooting steps, like removing and re-inserting the battery pack, removing and placing back the lens but if the issue persists, then we would suggest on sending the EOS R50 camera to our facility for repair.
I understand you state you have purchased the camera last year around this time. I'm unsure of the exact date of when it was purchased, but items purchased directly from Canon USA or from an Authorized Canon Dealer do include a one-year warranty if the item was purchased less than a year ago. I would recommend including a copy of your Proof of Purchase when sending in your item for the facility to review for any in-warranty service or repair. In case the facility is unable to cover the repair under the warranty, then they will provide you with a repair estimate for you to review and approve before they begin any repairs. You may decline the repair estimate they provide, and the camera will be returned to you unrepaired.
Canon U.S.A., Inc. has created a new online repair portal that allows you to set up service in a few simple steps. The repair portal gives you the ability to set up service for multiple pieces of equipment at once, and to receive a repair estimate in the majority of cases, depending on your model and issue. The portal also allows you to upload images or videos that will assist us in repairing your product. You can also select how you wish to be notified of the progress of your repair. The portal's service history section allows you to view all services that have been performed on any of your camera or video products since January 7, 2020.
Please follow the link below to access our online repair portal to arrange for service:
