EOS R5 Mark II: Message “Mode Movie still switching” on Playback

ImLMHK

Hello,

I just purchased a Canon R5 Mark II and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

I have a question that I hope you all can help me with.

I'm photographing still images. But when I go to preview the images using the Playback button, the message "Mode Movie still switching" appears on the screen. It only happens the first time I use the Playback button after turning on the camera. But it's annoying and I don't know what it means.

Can anyone tell me how to disable this message?

Thank you!

Mary

I'm guessing it relates to switching between movie or still image preview. Might be addressed in the manual.

Hi,

Yes, that’s what it’s referring to. It’s addressed on page 590 of the manual. But it doesn’t give any option for turning off the message.

Thanks.

Looks like it will always appear to give the option of seeing stills and movies while you rotate the dial of use Mode button to only see stills or movies. Is that what happens?

I have the same question. At first I thought it had something to do with a video clip being on the card, but I have no video on the cards.

Same issue here. However, I have found that the message disappears as soon as I move the dial... and my still images are immediately available to view.

I have seen the same message on an EOS R5 Mark II when the camera only had still images on the card. The message is only displayed the first time the playback button is pressed after the camera has been switched on.

It's annoying for sure, but I couldn't find a way to stop the message appearing.

Same, with only stills on card.  Spoke with Canon rep.  We went through many permutations and combinations of menu items.  Says hopes to be resolved in firmware update.

Maybe there is a new feature coming that we do not know about. Maybe it is to convert a video clip to stills so that we can get even more images on our data cards.

I came searching for an answer and in the process realized it is so simple.

While in view mode, pressing Mode button switching between watching only still or only movies. Don't have the option to watch them the same time like the old canon versions.
