What model flash are you using?

What lens are you using?

What are your exposure, metering, and AF setting when using M mode.

Hello, George, and welcome to the forum!

I assume you are using the built-in flash? If so, you may just need to manually pop up the flash, there should be a small button near the flash that has a lighting bolt on it, so just press it. It will pop up itself in auto mode, but when in one of the "Creative Zone" settings, like M, you have to manually pop it up. To learn more, start at page 150 in the Users Manual.

Hi

I did pup it up and is still did not work.  It does not work with my external flash either.

Thank you

Since you said the pop-up flash and an external flash don't work, can you make sure you haven't switched off the flash firing?

Go to the third red menu find Flash control and select it

On the page that then displays the first item is Flash firing make sure that it is not set to off - shown by the flash with a circle around it and a bar through it.

Here's the screenshot of my EOS R10 that shows what to set.
