EOS R1 Clearing Custom Buttons settings

RF1830

I set up back button focus on the R1. I am trying to change those settings with no luck. I would like to go back to default settings and have tried the camera reset with no luck. I even went in and reset each button manually to the default only to have it revert to the previous setting after powering back up on a new outing. Any ideas on how to revert back to camera default for a fresh start.  Settings were not saved to a custom button (C1-3)

What shooting mode are you using?  The behavior you described is consistent with using a user-defined custom shooting mode.

I am shooting in manual mode. The customized buttons for back button focus are the same in each mode. Like I posted above, I have tried to manually change back the buttons to default settings without any luck.

If you see the asterisk next to the customised buttons option like in this screenshot, then you have non-default settings. To return to the original factory settings, you go to the fifth menu page and select Clear all customised controls, as shown in the second screen below.

This is the relevant manual section

Thanks, this is the same procedure I had tried and did not reset to defaults. I will give it another try. I had printed the page of the manual earlier to make sure I had followed the directions correctly. Thought I had missed something like it had to be in a certain mode or something.

What mode is your camera in? Do you have different button configurations in the custom modes C1 / C2 / C3?

I shoot in manual and do not have C1 -C3 set up

Manually went through and reset all the settings to default. shut off camera and removed battery. Replaced battery powered back up, Things looked better, going back and resetting custom back button focus settings.
