Does the EOS 90D have the second row of pins needed for utilizing the extra speed of a UHS-II SD card? Various sources are contradictory on this answer. I'm not looking for an answer of, it will accept a UHS-II card, but whether the body has the required pins it needs to use the card as designed. Thanks

I searched the “90D Advanced User Guide” for references to UHS-II, and a comment staothe camera was compatible with both UHS-I and UHS-II USB cards. I would not assume that the 90D is capable of using the advanced features of the UHS-II cards, as they are designed to be backwards compatible.
So, I decided to investigate the specs. The screenshot is from the first page of the relevant section regarding card performance. Inked UHS-I cards are listed in the specs.
Because of the backward compatibility, I would expect near identical performance from UHS-II cards. Note the page number.

I also checked the manual, and on the page following the one you showed it is titled Guide to Image Quality Settings, and includes a maximum burst measurement. In the notes for that table it says that a standard / UHS-II card was used for the Canon testing.

Yes, I saw that, too.
But the blue box below your highlights suggests that using a faster card doesn’t make a difference. 🤷♂️

I had suspected the reference that Brian highlighted was a typo. The comment inside the blue box only makes sense if the highlighted text is a typo.
There are additional pages of performance data describing video performance. These pages reference UHS-I cards.

The yellow highlight on the UHS part was due to the fact I used Preview on my Mac to search the PDF for the string UHS, it highlights every occurrence in the manual for me, and was still highlighted when I screen captured the page.

Earlier in the thread a picture was posted showing a replacement card slot but, even so, it's unclear regarding the pins. However, if you search for a replacement card slot, the 90D replacement is the same one as the R5, 6, and 10 which all have different card specs. I don't know why Canon can't be more specific.

I think that I can unequivocally state that the 9OD does accept and is fully compatible with XD-SC II cards. I’ve used one for a while in my 90D.
I can anecdotally state that I think the 90D writes faster to an XD-SC II cards than to an XD-SC I card.
With regard to whether the body has the “required pins”, take a look at this photo:
Although not easy to see, there are “score” marks from the camera contacts on the second row of pins that wouldn’t be there if the camera didn’t have a second row of contacts in the card slot to make those score marks.
Maybe this will help?

LZ,
I definitely think this is the most compelling comment yet.

“ I definitely think this is the most compelling comment yet. “
Some food for thought.
The UHS-II card format was introduced to the market in 2023, which was 3-4 years after the release of the 90D.
