EOS 600D - Won't Focus, Black Edges

NinjaNultrix

Hello there, I have a Canon EOS 600D and I've been having issues with normal focus. It is completely out of focus, even if I try to adjust it manually and at normal zoom, on the frame are black edges around the corners. I don't understand what's causing this, I've tried thoroughly cleaning it and everything but nothing seems to fix it. However, if I use a wideangle lens on top of the standard lens, the focus is greatly improved to how I supposed it normally should be but again at normal zoom, the black edges are ruining the image.

It would be greatly appreciated if I could get any help! Thank you! 😄

Whatever that piece of junk is on the front of the lens, remove it.  It may have damaged your lens.  If it did Canon will not warranty the lens.

I would return the whole outfit tomorrow.  Then go to B&H or Adorama and buy the real deal.  Never buy those cheap packages.

A vignette is a pretty even darkening around the edges of the image. I don't know what that image you posted is, but that jagged, irregular dark stuff is not a vignette.

I wonder if it could be the lens. Do you know anyone with another Canon lens you can try?

Why do so many people say "FER-tographer"? Do they take "fertographs"?

If it is the lens, can it be fixed or would I have to throw it away? and is it possible to know what might have caused this so it doesn't happen again?

Unfortunately not, the people I know are Nikon users (so unfortunate haha)

Here is a before an after

Before ( with nothing on top of the lens)

After (with a wide angle lens placed on top of the standard lens)

How is it possible that a wide angle lens on top of it is improving the quality??

Are you for real?  Smiley Frustrated

Take a picture of your exact set-up with your phone and u/l it here.  The camera.  The lens. The add-on lens or lenses.

I trust you did not do as I suggested?

I did do as you suggested, even emailed them just incase the reponse might be different but they instructed me to either send my lens to one of their repair centres or go there myself but the closest one to me is hours away so I won't be able to go all the way there.

Is that even an actual Canon lens? And is it a complete lens without the WA attachment? Without the WA attachment the image quality is so bad that I wonder if it's an incomplete lens that accommodates a variety of attachments (WA, telephoto, normal, etc.), one of which must be there at all times. Such lenses did exist long ago, though I've not heard of one recently.

It is, that's the thing. When I innitially got it, everything was of great quality without any issues >.< but it must be what ebiggs said, the wide angle lens must've damaged it or something, I don't know
