The images above are from my current import of .CR2 files into LR. This has been happening EVERY TIME lately. I've formatted the card in the camera and re-formatted plus changed cards and it is happening every time.
If I open with Lightroom or Microsoft Photos, the file opens "normally" for 1-2 seconds with no distortion and then it resolves to a distorted image. See the image belo. Thank you for the help
I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark IV.

The undistorted image means that the jpeg preview is OK. Try a new full size card. If that does not solve it, it needs repair.
Can you view them in the camera?

I used to shoot with an EOS 5D Mark IV, but sold it some years ago when I got the EOS R6. However I have seen similar corruption type effects in the past. One thing I did find was that the images still opened correctly in Canon DPP software, and in that case I would often make a full 16-bit TIFF image in DPP and then add that back to Lightroom.
