Canon eos 700D shows black screen when connecting with pc elgato camlink and mini hdmi cable

Whenever I connect only the mini hdmi+ camera to a monitor the monitor shows the footage, the lcd turns black but I would rather have it on but if I connect it with pc+camlink+mini hdmi cable the footage that used to be shown on the monitor is now black. Is there a way to fix this?

When you connect a HDMI device, screen or capture card to your EOS 700D (Rebel T5i) the camera LCD is switched off and cannot be switched on.

I am confused. How is the monitor connected in the "pc+camlink+mini hdmi cable" case?

The 700D can only show the LCD *or* the HDMI, it can't do both.
