On my Canion T8i, I cannot select the SCN mode, it is greyed out.

I've tried resetting the camera to factory settings, doesn't work

kujhawk1978,

I'm afraid Demetrius is right. I think you have a technological problem. You aren't doing anything wrong, and no settings change you could make will fix your problem.

It's time for a repair job.

Will the mode dial turn to that position or not. Please clarify the problem.

Yes, the mode dial turns to that position but what shows is the P mode

kujhawk1978,

The SCN indicatior and the P indicator are on opposite sides of the dial.

The little indicator that shows what Mode you are in is on the left hand side closest to the viewfinder as you look down at the dial from above. Try turning your dial so that SCN is in the 9:00 o'clock position as you look down at the dial from above.

Do the other modes report correctly when the mode is turned to them.

Thanx, the SCN is at the 9 position

The SCN and M are greyed out and when I turn the mode dial to those, no deal. The others work fine.

What you set the mode dial to doesn't reflect what the camera's LCD screen shows. Take a picture with the mode dial to SCN & M Mode and a picture of the LCD screen.
