Strange sound with my canon 100mm macro L IS USM

I just got a used canon 100mm macro lens of the version L IS and i can hear a sound of something moving inside my lens.

I thought it could be the IS but once powered on, the sound remains the same.

I can still send it back for free. Should I or everything is normal ?

If you need more information to help me tell me

Waddizzle is correct, send it back. Mine is completely silent except when focusing and even then the sound is slight.

What do you have the autofocus set to?   One Shot, AI Servo?   Try setting it to one shot and see if the noise goes away

Greetings,

Mine is absolutely quiet.  All of my lenses are.  If it's making a noise something's wrong.  Return or exchange it.
