Canon R6 Mk II freezing frequently

Blackscarlet

I am a club and event photographer who works 6 nights a week. I have a canon R6 and I kept having freezing issues, where the camara becomes none responsive and i have to take the battery out before it works again. This occurs every night. Depending on the club, up to 8 times an event within a 1hr time frame. I sent the camera to be repaired under warranty and while it was gone I bought the 6d mk ii. Withing the first 25 mins of using it , it began to freeze up as well. unlike the r6 which had an error code , this just has a dark grey screen and yet again i have to remove battery to reset. I use all canon original gear. Is anyone else having same problem?

If this persists I will have to return the camera for a refund.

Update. i also got my 6d back and withing first day it started freezing again but this time not showing an error code.

Make sure that you have disabled Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.  The GPS could be the cause issues, too, if it loses the satellite signal.

Hi Blackscarlet are you using adapted EF lenses on your R6 Mark II via the EF-RF adapter. Also are you using those same lenses on your 6D Mark II. A common link between the 2 cameras could be a faulty lens communication.

Hi

That's what i thought till it started doing the same with my rf 24-105mm as well

Do you any other lenses that you can test out on your R6 Mark II whether native or adapted EF glass. Do you have other EF lenses that you could test out on your 6D Mark II.

Hi i use 6 lens ef 24-70 f2.8L mk2, sigma 24mm 1.4, fisheye ef 8-14mm f4L, 50mm 1.8, ef 16-35 f4L, ef 85mm 1.4. This issue has happened with all these lens. i have just bought a new adaptor today will try it out and see what the results are like. Also i tried using only back screen last night. It still froze on me. Evf also takes about 3 seconds b4 it can adjust to the dark, way slower than the R6.

Are those same EF Mount lenses causing problems on your 6D Mark II also. Or only some of the above mentioned lenses only.

Update didn't use new adaptor because I wanted to lock on and  making sure I tried as many of the lens as possible. same problem again occurs with the freezing up. I have slightly managed to narrow it down. Low light ie nearly pitch black areas in the club almost always makes the camera freeze up , when I try to focus . occasionally it freezes in mother areas, , this is with both Ef and RF lens. I will try new adaptor tomorrow , I am in the same club which I have the most problems in. I had a job an our before and the camera only froze once. the club which was darker it's froze about 9 times , generally in the same area of the club. it's so bad that when I look in the to evf to frame and focus, it's just pitch black. even though before raising it to my eye level I can see the camera working fine.

Is the AF Assist Beam firing wether that be the orange AF Assist Beam from the camera body. Or are you using a speedlite's AF Assist Beam. IR AF Assist doesn't work on mirrorless. The speedlite should emit pre-fires/ Intermittent Flashes to assist the AF system. Even if the speedlite has a choice between IR and pre-fires/ Intermittent Flashes. The camera body overrides the speedlite AF Assist Beam emission method. The camera body also chooses where the AF Assist Beam comes from depending on ambient lighting.
