Canon R5 / Canon RF 14-35 / Canon LP-E6NH / SandDisk Extreme Pro CFexpress 128GB

Purchased Dec 2024 as a package

Last weekend, May 17th, 2025, while shooting a band video, 3-4 mins, outside temp 15C, camera froze with image on back screen.

No buttons working.  Had to remove battery to restart.

Video lost.

Had shot videos before.  Possibly one similar issue before but didn’t clue in as a problem.

Greetings,

15* C is 59* degrees F.  Camera would have no issues at this temp.  This is probably related to one of the following: file format, size of the file, formatting of the media or media related failure.

I realize this is generalized and covers a broad number of possible problems or issues.  One is likely the cause.

Is your wireless communications in the camera enabled?

Does the issue occur in a far less crowded environment?

You should disable wireless communications if are not actively using it.  The fact that you have never had issues before is merely a happy coincidence.

Apple’s most firmware updates for iOS changes the wireless settings.  Bluetooth in most phones likes to hunt for connections when it has no active connections.

You could also have issues with your memory card, as Rick noted above, especially when recording video.  A low performance card can and will cause the camera to seem to hang and lockup. As will using an unformatted memory card.

Card is a high performance card, not to say that there could be an issue with it.

What brand, type, and storage capacity is the card?  How often do you format it.
