Canon R100 No silent mode in Manual?

lordaeron1

I just purchased an R100 and am a bit puzzled. it uses an Electric shutter in Silent mode yet this mode is useless.
if I can't control the shutter speed, Apparture and Iso what is the point of having it?
As stated in the trailers, I was hoping to use the silent shutter / Electronic shutter in all modes. or at least in the manual. I mean come on now, in Manual, you should have total control over your camera and all its features.
what is going on, am I missing something? how to activate and use the electronic shutter in the manual Mode, please help.

lordaeron1,

I read in a review of the R100 by Ken Rockwell here:

https://www.kenrockwell.com/canon/eos-r/eos-r100-users-guide.htm

that the Silent Shutter is only available in Single Shot mode (no continuous), and that the setting is buried in the SCN Mode on your dial, which implies to me that it is not available in Manual, or any of the Creative Modes.

It is what it is.

Unfortunately you are correct there is no way to select electronic shutter mode with the EOS R100 when the mode dial is set to any of the creative modes, M, P, Tv, Av. The only way to use electronic shutter is with the silent shutter mode where the camera controls shutter, aperture and ISO for you.

And R100's Silent shutter/ electronic shutter, affect a mechanical shutter?
