Canon EOS Rebel T7 LCD Screen Won't Turn On

I was shooting with this camera this weekend, and the LCD screen cut out near the end of my session. The camera still takes photos, but again the screen won't turn on. Does anyone have a remedy for this?

Hello! I am also having this issue.  Did you ever solve the problem?  If so, may I ask how?

Thank you!

Yes, I solved this issue. I turned the camera off, put a smaller, known good,  memory card in the camera, took the battery out of the camera for 10 seconds. I put the battery back in the camera and turned it back on.

camera works normally now.

I had an identical problem, it was fixed by holding down the shutter while powering on. Tyvm

I also teach Photography, and we're down two of the three T7s we purchased less than two years ago.

Symptoms are the same...no menu, no screen, no replay, but screen is active on Recording Mode only.

Are there any other suggestions to do a hard reset on the camera? Can't access any of the menus...there must be a sequence of buttons to reset?

DRWebster,

I ran across this suggestion for doing a hard reset. I cannot guarantee that it will work.

  • Take the lens, card, and battery out

  • Turn the power switch on

  • Hold down the shutter button for 20 seconds

  • Turn off the power switch

  • Put the battery in and shut the battery door

  • Turn the power switch on

Thanks everyone. My two cameras are back to working properly...

The both responded to this fix, in this order:

1. Connect to a monitor with HDMI. (this did not solve the problem)

2. Remove battery, card, and lens and turn on, press and hold shutter button for 20s and then insert battery.

I tried both of these suggestions independently, and they did not work. But together, and in this order, it worked.

Super fun times.
