Just recently the autofocus on my 70D does not alert me with the green light in the viewfinder or the beep. The problem exists in the creative modes only in basic modes it works.
I cleared all settings and functions and it still does not function.
Any help will be appreciated.
Tnx

clearing camera settings should reset BEEP, but check it in the Menu.
Verify lens in AF mode
Are you too close to subject
Remove and reinstall lens.
Just some random thoughts.

I did all the items you mentioned and still no luck. The camera is new to me and my knowledge is somewhat limited so I appreciate your help. It works fine in the basic modes but switch to M,AV,TV or P and its gone. Used the manual and went through all the autofocus settings and think they are all ok, but I could be wrong.
I was just up in New Hampshire and Mass. last weekend for a wedding. My son is a grad student at UNH in wildlife biology and environmental conservation.Currently doing genetic research on Bobcats. I love it up there!

I have tried to reset a camera back to factory defaults before, and not every setting seemed to reset. I need to try it again, but next time I plan to put the camera in green "A" mode, and then try to reset it .... in the two places, as noted above.

You have to clear the camera settings in 2 places, one clears the camera settings, the other clears the Custom Functions. Be sure you have cleared both the camera settings and the custom functions.
