Monitoring audio with T6i

I just got a T6i at work and I have an external mic to go with it. I'm trying to figure out a way to monitor the audio when filming an interview. Does anyone know if the camera is compatible with a HDMI audio extractor? If not is there any other way I can hear the audio while recording?

I don't even know if the HDMI has audio during video taking.

I just checked and my T6S has no audio via HDMI either before or during recording a movie. (Probably to prevent feedback)  It only has sound during playback. That is something you need a higher level camera for.

... like a real video camera.  Not a stills camera that doubles at video.

I think the cameras with headphone jacks let you monitor the audio

Did you find an answer?

I was just going to get a 3.5 input jack splitter so one goes to the powered lava mic and the other to a pair of headphones.

I talked to Canon support. There isn't a way to monitor audio with the T6i. I bought a field recorder to use for interviews because I don't trust the Canon to record quality audio.

Getting this audio mixer did the trick (removed link as per Forum Guidelines)
