I have recently switched from the 7D Mk ll to the R7 and purchased the mount adaptor ring. My Sigma 150-600mm works fine as did the Canon EF 70-200 1:2.8 L IS ll USM lens when I started playing with the camera. Picked up the camera again today and the 70-200 will not focus. I have updated the firmwear on the camera and reset to factory settings without success. Any suggestions beyond buying a new lens?

Assuming the camera works fine with all your other lenses except the 70-200 you should contact Canon to have the lens checked. No reason to buy a new lens.

Greetings,
We have to ask. Have you checked the AF/MF switch on the camera body and the lens?
Is your adapter Canon brand? What shooting mode are you in? Have you tried others?
I think the EF 70-200 mkII just went out of support. Not sure, so do try Canon of course 🙂

According to the site I check: Products Subject to the Repair Period|Canon it is still in service window.
AF switch is a good check.

Thanks. So reading in the inverse, if the lens has an AF/MF switch the lens won’t focus if switch is in MF position.

The AF/MF doesn't apply to EF lenses. It only applies to RF or RF-S lenses which don't have an AF/MF switch on them.

There is an AF/MF switch on the lens. I don’t have an RF body. Are you saying that the RF bodies ignore that lens switch?

RF bodies ignore the switch on the camera body if the lens has one. Some RF & RF-S lenses lenses omit the AF/MF switch on the lens. They also omit the IS switch too. Though IS is controlled from the camera menu if the lens has IS but lacks the switch on it. I think this a cost cutting measure on cheaper lenses.

Thanks for responding … Adaptor is Canon, shooting in M but also tried other modes.
