It's here finally (200-800)

Five months and ten days from the time I ordered it, the FedEx man shows up with a big box from Canon.   Amusingly, I knew it was coming primarily because they sent me the CarePak activiation before I got the shipping notice.

Fired it up on the RP and it focuses nicely (way better than the sigma it is replacing) and as nice as the 100-500L I rented last summer.   Works well on the 1.4x extender.

Unboxed:   lens, hood, strap (macbook not include):

Here's a quick shot at 800mm out my office window...

And with the 1.4x extender

Looks good. I also have an RF 200-800mm coming my way for some tests in a few weeks, and I look forward to seeing how it gets on with the EOS R6 Mk II and EOS R10.

flyngron, thanks for sharing the photos. My wife takes photos of our bird feeders. Her favorite is the downy woodpecker followed by hummingbirds.

We've got hummers, but there weren't any at the feeder when I was shooting.   We also typically get 30 goldfinches that show up a couple of times a day (all at the same time) among others.
