EF 500mm f/4 no support? Manual focus ring is loose

In looking to find service for a EF 500 f4, I see Canon is no longer offering service for this lens. Can anyone direct me to someone that can do repairs on this lens? The manual focus ring is very lose and I wanted to get it checked. Don't use it much any more but hate to think I cannot use it if I wanted to.

Thanks

I'm not sure where you are located jholt21782 or if you are going to look to repair the lens but I use Royal Camera Service in Illinois and their work has always been outstanding @ a reasonable price.

Perhaps this post of someone trying to repair their own focus ring might be helpful to you.  I have no experience with anyone mentioned on this thread https://www.dpreview.com/forums/threads/repairing-the-focus-assembly-of-a-canon-ef-500mm-f-4l-is-usm...

The Canon EF 500mm f/4L IS lens Version I is no longer serviced by Canon, if you own the EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM you should be good until February 2029.

If you own version I you will need to find a Canon 3rd party repair center. If you have other EF lenses the links below will assist you to find their end of service dates.

For no longer supported Canon photography gear try Phototronic in Topeka. KS. Another very good shop is Midwest Camera Repair in Wyandotte, Mi.

If you have a lens that is still serviceable by Canon always use Canon. Canon has the knowledge and the parts. Repair on unserviceable lenses is because parts have run out. The private repair shops generally have to cannibalize junker lenses for parts. I would call Canon before you do anything if it is a simple adjustment they might look at it for you 1 (800) 652-2666 or suggest an alternative. Canon has the best customer service of almost any big company use it if you can.
