is it ok to print heavy paper like 220 g/m². I've read up it is OK with canon paper brand up to 270 g/m² but I don't know about different paper brand

The basis weight is the basis weight, regardless of brand. It is not a strict measure of thickness. Two different papers of the same g/sq. meter can be different. What DOES matter is thickness, stiffness, and surface finish.
So a 220 g/sq.m paper ought to work if it's an inkjet paper and will travel through the printer.
