Wait Temporarily - PIXMA TR4720

When attempting to print on my Canon TR4720, it displays a message of "wait temporarily"... , then nothing. It becomes stuck. I have tried resetting the printer, nothing works. I have an electricly powered paper weight with ink cartridges. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
