PIXMA TR4720 only Shows CANON in LCD and doesnt respond to input

Long shot here. I think an internal board must have fried in a recent power outage. The printer was OFF, but plugged in.

I saw a similar post regarding a different printer here:

and I tried the solution suggested with no luck. Anything that can be done or is it time for a new Printer?

To reiterate and provide more details:

The printer will power on by pushing the power button (Green LED). The Printer does not do its usual setup, and the LCD shows only CANON.  None of the keypad buttons work, in  fact, even holding the Power button will not power off. Have to unplug.

Have tried:

-unplugging for an extended period

- repeated pressing of the power button while unplugged (as suggested in the thread cited above).

Based on the information you provided, I think your assessment is probably correct.  

The only other thing I think you could try is a hard reset.  These are the steps for performing a hard reset on the printer but they can't be performed because your system won't boot.

Since the printer is still under support, you can contact Canon.  Let them know the printer was damaged during a power. outage/surge.  Although I don't think they'll be able to help you with the printer, you can speak to the sales department about a discount using the Canon loyalty program. 1 800-385-2155.

I too think you are correct, a circuit is fried due to a power surge.
