Trouble scanning and attached to an e-mail

I'm having trouble scanning a document and attaching it to an e-mail. I've done it before w/no problems. This one is a certified copy, would that matter? Thank you so much for your help.

Hello canonkim,

So that the Community can help you better, we will need to know the version of Windows or Mac in use.  Also, what exactly happens when you try to scan or attach it to an email?  Do any error messages occur?

If this is a time-sensitive matter, our US-based technical support team is standing by, ready to help at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666) weekdays between 10 AM and 10 PM ET (7 AM to 7 PM PT).

Thanks and have a great day!

Hi and thank you so much for responding. I use windows Vista. When I put the document in and hit scan and auto detect, then go down to either; document platen or document ADF, hit OK, hit attach to e-mail then OK, it says to put document in and press both "color and black". I do and it says: prossing, please wait, then back to put document in as shown and press: same things.Any thoughts? It is more appreciated than you'll ever know. God bless!

When you say you have done it before with no problems do you mean on this computer with this printer? If so, have you changed anything on the computer and/or updated any software? That would help diagnosing the problem.

Thank you for responding. Same computer, same printer. I put in the copy to be scanned and hit scan. Then I hit forward scanned data to a PC, scroll down to document (ADF) hit OK , scroll down to Attach to e-mail, then it says place document as shown and press : the black and color button at the same time. At that time it says waiting......... then press the black and color button, etc.

What software are you using to scan with. Which email program do you use.

Hi, I use windows vista. Please forgive me if I don't know what I'm talking about, due to a subdural hematoma 15 yrs ago resulting in 25 brain surgeries and memory problems and can't use a computer more than 15-20 mins @ a time b-cause of grand mal szrs. But hey, God let me live so I can tell people @ Him! So, anyway. I've not changed anything. Everything is the same, so, any thoughts? Thank you so much.

Ps., I think the software program is ?,sorry, Idon't understand it and the e-mail program is ? google?
