Scanning a document on a Pixma TR4720

When I scan a document it comes out as a picture.  I have looked everywhere to see if this can be changed.  I'd rather it be scanned as a PDF.  Am I missing something?  Thanks.

Is there a setting similar to this in your scan utility?
