SETUP.APP will not run. No error returned. PIXMA TR8520

Brand new PIXMA TR8520.
Wouldn't be an issue if I didn't need to use the scanner. 



As it is, setup.app will to run no matter how many times I click on setup.app, nothing at all happens.

No error is displayed.

I am going to return the printer.  Who has time to devote to troubleshoot halfbaked products? 

 

Backstory:

After following the Getting Started Guide up to 6.a.,  then I downloaded the setup.app from the page the ij.setup.canon dialog brought me to, which stated it was the setup app for tr8520. 

Specifically this is the URL from which it was downloaded: https://ugp01.c-ij.com/ij/webmanual/WebPortal/PTL/ptl-setup.html?lng=en&type=setup&mdl=TR8520&area=u...

I searched in Console Logs for "Setup.app" and "Canon", no results were returned. 

To be crystal clear, I click on setup.app, and nothing whatsoever, at all, period, happens. Zilch.

What version of Windows is installed on your computer?

 

If you are using a Mac, what version of OSX is installed?

 

Are you using your PIXMA TR8520 wirelessly?    Or with a USB cable?
