Print a doc. from the rear tray of a Canon MG6120?

Hello!  How do you print a document from the manual top feed of a Canon MG6120?  Not a photo - I've printed those from the top before, but simply a document (I'm making invitations).  I'm sure there is a simple way to do this but I'm flummoxed!  I would appreciate any help/direction!!!

Hi SMDobransky,

Fortunately, it is simple!  When the printer detects that something will be printed on plain paper, it will pull paper from its plain paper feed source.  With this printer, you can change this source to either the cassette or the rear tray.  Follow these steps:

  1. Press the Setup button on the HOME screen.
  2. Press the left or right arrow button to select Device settings, then press the OK button.
  3. Ensure Plain paper feed settings is highlighted. If it is not highlighted, use the down or up button to select it, then press the OK button.
  4. In Plain paper feed settings menu, use the down or up button to select Rear tray, then press the OK button.

And that's it!  You should be all set.  Keep in mind, you will need to change this setting back to Cassette if you wish to switch back to the front tray feed.

One final thing.  Since I see you are printing invitations, be sure to select the paper type in your printing application.  If you are using cardstock, for example, select cardstock instead of plain paper in your print settings to ensure great quality results.  Paper types other then plain standard size paper will always feed from the rear tray.
