Pixma TS6420a Low Ink Indication

Does the subject printer have a definite "ink empty" message or just "ink is low" and you have to wait until it actualy stops printing?  My previous Canon printers had an "ink empty" message but I haven't seen one on this printer.

Hi Joeber,

The PIXMA TS6420a will display an out of ink message when the color and/or black ink cartridge(s) run out of ink.

I have seen "ink low" message but not "ink empty".  Seems like when it's really empty it just starts not to print properly.
