I haven't changed a thing on my MacBook Air and tried to scan today and I get the following pop up:
You do not have permission to
open the application "Canon
IJScanner1".
Contact your computer or network
administrator for assistance
This is my personal laptop and no one else uses it.
In order to scan I have to go into settings, click on the printers and scanners, select my printer and click scan.
I can not use the options on the printer and select scan. All it does when I do is pretend its' scanning and nothing ever happens. That's why I've always gone through Settings.

Hi lbrigman,
What version of OSX is installed on your Mac?
Are you using your PIXMA MP990 wirelessly?
or with a USB cable?
