I'm considering the purchase of a PIXMA G4270. The print heads are user-replaceable, but I cannot find any information as to its part number or where to purchase it.
I tried looking in the User Manual, the online product page as well as B&H Photo "what's in the box" listing (which just says "set of print heads").
Anyone know how one would go about getting print heads for this printer? And why wouldn't the manual or product pages (including accessory pages) list what that part is? It should be listed alongside the information on the ink cartridges.

Thanks, Danny. I was ultimately transfered to Sales since they will be handling all orders for the print heads (Parts dept will not).
The parts in question along with current prices are:
As an aside, I was looking at this printer as a potential way to save money on inks. And while the large ink cartridges for this printer are inexpensive and one should be able to get thousands of pages printed with them, it's unclear how often one would need to replace print heads. The print head prices are effectively the same as say HP ink cartridges. So if print heads have to be replaced often (say twice a year or more), there really isn't any cost savings over other brands.

Hi, Ricky! Our Parts Order Desk should have that information. You can reach them Monday through Friday at 1-866-481-2569.
Hope that helps!

Here are links to these items in the Canon online store. Alas, they are out of stock. So I'm not feeling good about this purchase. I have no idea how long print heads will last and if it's difficult to get replacements, that will not be a good situation to be in.

The printheads used in Canon MegaTank printers should last for at least a couple years (if not several years or for the life of the printer) for most normal users. As long as you keep the printheads in good condition and don’t clog them or dry them out (use the printer regularly - around once or twice every few days to a week - and use genuine Canon ink), you should be fine for thousands of pages of printing.
Canon’s basic warranty for home-use G-series MegaTank printers usually cover one year or 30k pages, whichever comes first. I would expect the print head to then last around at least 15-30k pages of printing. My own MegaTank printer with these same printheads is a little over two years old with about 26k of pages printed thus far.

If parts like print heads can no longer be replaced, can printers that depend upon them be returned for a refund if still under warranty?
