Adjust the settings .Hit print and my printer takes from the other tray not the rear feed. I put in one piece of paper or a bunch and it still does the same thing. And it keeps asking me to register rear paper tray setting. What does this mean Its a new printer I got it to feed from the rear tray twice when i was setting it up. im ready to scream

Thanks for joining the conversation, Silvergriffon!
So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using. To date, Canon USA hasn't released a printer with the specific model number you mentioned but we have released printers with similar model numbers, namely the PIXMA TS9520, the PIXMA TS9520a, and the PIXMA TS9521C. Please let us know if it's one of these.
If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.
Thanks and have a great day!

Hi Silvergriffon! Thanks for posting in the Canon Community Forum. I see you are repeatedly being told to register the paper setting. I can help with that.
When you see the term “register,” it means the same thing as the word “choose.” This printer has two paper sources (a paper cassette and a rear tray), so the printer needs to know what Type and Size is being loaded in both places. Selecting the correct paper size and type at your computer is not all you have to do; the printer needs to know where that paper is loaded.
To fix this problem, you will need to go into the printer’s tray or cassette settings and change the Paper Size and Media Type. There are two ways you can do this. First, you can change the setting while you are in the process of loading the paper.
Please open the following link In a new tab to review the instructions for loading paper in the Rear Tray:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TS9500%20series/EN/UG/ug-106.html
Immediately after you have completed step 7, the display (screen) on the printer should show the image that you see in step 8. You’ll see the Paper Size and Type to the right of the little printer symbol. If that paper size and type does not match the paper you are loading, you must tap the CHANGE button. Once you tap the Change button, you’ll be able to choose the size and type you loaded in the rear tray.
If you are loading Envelopes in the Rear Tray, please use the instructions in the following link instead:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TS9500%20series/EN/UG/ug-108.html
Please note that we recommend loading paper other than Letter Size (8.5x11 inch) Plain Paper in the rear tray. If you are loading Letter Size (8.5x11 inch) Plain Paper, you should do it in the Cassette. The instructions for loading Plain Paper in the cassette can be found in the following link:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/Manual/All/TS9500%20series/EN/UG/ug-107.html
If you are loading Letter Size, plain paper in the rear tray (or if you must choose those settings), you will need to select the PAPER SOURCE in your computer’s print dialog box. When the Print screen on the computer pops up, please look for the Paper Source setting and change it to the Rear Tray. If it is set to Auto Select or Cassette, the printer will try to take the paper from the lower cassette instead. If you are unable to find the Paper Source setting on your application screen, please change it in the Print dialog box. For information that will help with that, please use the links at the end of this message (where it says Windows and Mac).
If you are unable to change the Paper Size and Type while you are loading the paper, here is the second way you can change the paper size and type for the rear tray:
If the printer’s Home screen is not currently being displayed, please press the button with the symbol that looks like a house. That symbol will either be on the screen or one of the buttons on the panel.
On some models, you may need to tap on Device Settings first, and then choose Feed Settings.
If you are loading A4 size instead of Letter (8.5x11 inch), you can change the size to A4.
Once you have the correct Size and Type registered (chosen) for the rear tray, all you need to do is select the exact same paper size and type on your computer’s print settings when you go to print. If the paper settings on the computer match the ones you have set to the rear tray (on the printer), the printer should take the paper that is loaded there (in the rear tray).
If you can’t choose the paper size and type through the application you are using, then you should do that in the print dialog box. The instructions in the following link should help with that:
For Windows computers:

For Mac computers:
https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/PrinterDriver/M/TS9500%20series/1.0/EN/PPG/dg-c_pc_basic.html
I hope this information helps. Thanks for choosing Canon.
