PIXMA TS9520 Back Ink Head "bracket" popped off

My discussion is about the color printer head on a Pixma TS9520 printer.

Hello, I recently needed to clean the printer head. In doing so, I accidently pulled on the bracket at the back end of the cartridge holder, which held the electrical ribbons and indicated which color went where. I can't get it to snap back on and seem to be banging up the power ribbons. There is no discussion anywhere that I can find that illustrates this problem. I don't know how it should re-insert nor how it should hold onto the white ribbons. It will not snap back on to allow the ink cartridge holder to ride freely, side to side. I don't want to damage the ribbons any further. There is also a tension flange that sticks out from it and I can't figure out where that should insert. 😣 Obviously, I could use some thorough instructions on how to re-insert this bracket. Any takers? Thank you in advance. EugeneInk-Holder.jpgBracket.jpg

Hi,

Based on this type of issue, I recommend reaching out to Canon support. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
The real time feedback of a live technical support call would be very beneficial in this case.

We look forward to hearing from you.

The component in your image is the print head holder (or bracket) for the Canon PIXMA TS9520. This part is usually pre-installed and is not meant to be removed by the user during standard ink replacement. If it has detached, it must be reinstalled behind the ink cartridges into the carriage. [

Reinstalling the Print Head Holder

  1. Preparation: Ensure the printer is powered on. Open the scanning unit/cover (A) and wait for the print head carriage to move to the replacement position.

  2. Remove Ink Tanks: If they are still inside, remove all ink tanks by pressing their tabs (A) and lifting them out.

  3. Position the Holder: The holder/bracket in your photo must be reinserted into the carriage. It should sit behind where the cartridges go.

  4. Insert and Secure:

    • Raise the print head lock lever (the large lever on the carriage) completely until it stops.

    • Align the print head with the holder and tilt it toward the front at an angle as you insert it.

    • Lower the lock lever firmly until it clicks to secure the assembly.

  5. Reinstall Ink Tanks: Place the ink tanks back into their corresponding color-coded slots until they click into place.

Post-Installation

  • Calibration: Once reinstalled, it is highly recommended to perform a Print Head Alignment from the maintenance menu on the printer's operation panel to ensure correct print quality.

  • Cleaning: If you experience missing lines or streaks, run a Cleaning or Deep Cleaning cycle from the Maintenance menu

Thank you, DerrickL. There was an added clue in your explanation that I will follow. Fingers crossed. Eubean525
