I’m getting 7700 error message on my Canon TS3722. Recommendation is to replace ink cartridges, but they won’t move to the middle so I can remove and replace them. Any advice?

Understanding Error Code 7700

The 7700 error code on your Canon TS3722 printer typically indicates a serious internal hardware issue or a problem with the print head or cartridge recognition. This error can prevent the printer from functioning properly.

Troubleshooting Steps

Power Cycle the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall.
  3. Wait for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

Check and Reseat Cartridges

  • Open the printer cover to access the cartridges.
  • Ensure all ink cartridges are properly seated. Remove and reinsert them to ensure they click into place.
  • If using third-party cartridges, consider switching to genuine Canon cartridges, as the printer may not recognize non-genuine chips correctly.
  • Make sure the cover has not open for more than ten minutes and it closes properly, no bits of paper to lodge it open.

When to Seek Professional Help

If the error persists after trying the above steps, it is advisable to contact a Canon service center for repair. The 7700 error often suggests a hardware fault that may not be user-fixable.
