PIXMA TR8622a touchscreen becomes unresponsive

why-oh-why
Apprentice

The touch screen quits responding to touch after printer sits for awhile or after it powers down. Powering off and then back on does not fix the issue. I have discovered that you have to unplug the AC cord and then plug back in,, it seems to reset the touch screen. This is annoying and a  P.I.A.   Canon customer support wants money to just talk to someone. Hoping someone here on the community forum might have some answers or suggestions. Printer is just now out of warranty period. Everything works great when it works given the issue with the touchscreen. Help please,,,,, been happy with Canon printers for many years but may end up buying different brand for next purchase.

Hi why-oh-why,

Is your PIXMA TR8622a connected to a surge protector/power strip?  If so, please connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet.  Also, changing the power settings on your PIXMA TR8622a may resolve this issue.  Please follow these steps:

1.  Please tap the gear icon at the bottom of the display of your PIXMA TR8622a.

2.  Please scroll down the list and tap ECO.

3.  Tap Energy saving settings.

4.  Tap Next.

5.  Tap Auto power off and select "Never" from the top of the list.

6.  Tap Auto power on and select "ON".

7.  Tap OK.

8.  Tap the Home icon in the upper left corner.

If the issue persists, your PIXMA TR8622a may require service.  You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.

If you would like to take part in this option, please call our Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Monday through Saturday, 9am to 9pm. Let them know you have been working with technical support and the Canon Upgrade Program was offered.
