For the past two (2) days my printer has been making a funny noise but I couldn’t figure out why. Then today (Sunday, April 27), I got a service code 5100 message. I have, in fact, checked the ink cartridges & everything appears fine….nor do I see impeding the stabilizer & there are NOT any paper jams so I have no idea whatsoever what is causing this. Therefore, I am complexly banned from printing anything at all.

Greetings,
To start, we will need to know the model of your printer.

It’s a PIXMA TR4720.

As I said above, it’s a PIXMA TR4720.
I have already tried the knowledge base & “additional support options” but nothing was helpful.
Additionally, I logged-in to my Canon account & it says I have no registered when I had in fact registered it. As a matter a fact, it was there when I had 1st logged-in but inadvertently goy logged-out & was gone (unregistered) when I got logged back it which doesn’t make any sense….nor am I able to reregister it.

Greetings,
The 5100 error can mean a few things.
Your ink cartridges may not be properly seated or installed. This includes ensuring the locking clip is fully engaged.
A paper jam, even a small piece or corner can keep the carriage from self-calibrating.
The encoder strip could be dirty and needs a wipe with a soft cloth maybe with a drip of alcohol to remove any residue or build up?.
Not sure what is keeping you from registering your device in the MyCanon portal. Once you enter the model number it asks you for the serial number, date of purchase, place of purchase, etc

This still does not help me.
I thought I had clearly stated I had already checking the ink cartridges & ther are, in fact seated, installed & locked,
There is no paper jam at all. AS a matter a fact I was in the middle of printing a (2-page) document when the service code came up….the 1st page printed (actually, page 2 of the actual document) perfectly fine - no rips, jams or anything - then the printed beeped & the orange light started flashing but page 2 (the actual page 1) never even entered the printer (itself) at all. Where is the paper jam in that.
I don’t even know what the encoder strip is but I looked into the printer (with the flashlight on my phone) & couldn’t see anything that appeared dirty. However, I did try to wipe off what I could see/reach as I had already thought about dust of something. Yrt, again, nothing worked.
As I had stated, it was, in fact, previously registered. However, I got logged -out & when I goy logged-in again it said I don’t have any devices registered so I tried reregistering it but when I typed it in nothing happen as if it didn’t exist, I never even got anything about a serial number.
I just debunked everything you said - all of that is false….
