PIXMA TR4720 Black Ink Cartridge running out too quickly?

morrisdan1

Hi. I feel that that TR4720 black ink is running out too quickly. And I'm talking about making just about 10 to 15 printouts or copies per week and using the standard 275 black ink just for few months?

Something wrong with the picture here?

Can I do anything to make the black ink cartridge last longer?

I also see that the Canon XL ink cartridges are also available? Is it worth the extra cost? What has your experience been like?

Thanks!

If the printer is warning you that the black ink is running low, like my printer is warning me starting over 30 pages ago, you can keep going until it runs out or replace it that is up to you. It may run out mid page, but if only printing black that is not a big deal. XL cartridges are worth the cost in my opinion, but the low ink warning will start start long before you run completely out of ink. I use the Canon My Printer Status and as long as the diagram of the cartridge has a black bar at the bottom I keep printing. As far as making the ink last longer, avoid cleaning the printer head, or doing nozzle checks, or test prints unless you need to. Also when printing off the internet, make sure you set the exact number of pages you want, like the first page of an Amazon (1 page out of ten) ad or news article, things like that.

Ok. Thanks!

Ok, what about can I change anything in the Canon's printer settings that would also help make the ink last longer? Thanks again!

There isn't any setting I can think of to save black ink, color ink, make sure when you print text you set it for grayscale otherwise it will use color and black when printing black and white .
