PIXMA MX470 - Won't print on Snapdragon X Plus processor (ARM based)

I have a MX 470 printer in good working order. I have just bought a new laptop. It’s a Lenovo IdeaPad which has a Snapdragon X Plus processor which is ARM based. I can get it to connect to the printer to scan but nothing I have tried helps me make the printer print. I understand there are problems with ARM-driver compatibility. My laptop says it doesn’t have the driver and nothing I’ve downloaded helps. Suggestions very welcome.

Your best bet is to connect to your laptop with a USB/printer cable, wireless is a bit trickier, your printer is on the list of ARM "compatible" printers without the use of Canon drivers. Follow this procedure with a cable connection or wireless. Good luck!

Many thanks for the suggestion Derrick. I have disconnected the printer from WiFi and connected it to the laptop with a usb lead but still can’t get it to print. Any other suggestions anyone?

I have one suggestion, unplug the usb, then reset the printer to default then plug into your computer. Download this Windows ARM driver (why Canon does not have this on a USA site I don't know) install it. Hopefully it will see the printer.   I can't promise it will work, but it will not hurt to try.

Resetting the Canon MX470 to Default Settings

To reset your Canon MX470 printer to its default settings, follow these steps:

  1. Unplug the printer from the power source.
  2. Wait for 10 minutes.
  3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

This process will revert the printer settings to their factory defaults.

Many thanks for your efforts Derrick. Sadly this approach didn’t worked either when I tried it ☹️
Further ideas welcome.
