When I print, a get a vertical line through the middle of the text that does not print correctly. When I run the print head alignment feature on my Cannon MX439 printer, the process begins but stops about a forth of the way through and the printer beeps. Since the process does not complete, it is impossible to do the scan part of the procedure. Any thoughts?

Hi,
If you have already performed a cleaning and deep cleaning, then you can try a encoder cleaning. Please click HERE for the steps.
If that does not resolve the issue, the printer has experienced an internal hardware issue and would need to be replaced.
You would qualify for the Canon Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
If you would like to take advantage of this offer, please the Canon Sales Department at (866) 443-8002 Mon-Sat, 9 AM to 9pm EST excluding holidays.
